CMMI and Maturity Level

CMMI, developed by the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, is a process improvement model for software. It is used to evaluate the maturity level of software development by organizations through categorization into 1 of 5 stages.

Five maturity levels

Achieving level 3 requires success on 18 points in 22 process areas. Furthermore, at level 3 and above, the emphasis is on involving the organization in development processes. For this reason, achieving level 3 is becoming the initial aim for many enterprises.
